WOW WOW WOW

Okay so last night we went out for a FABULOUS evening.  It started at Gordon Biersch for dinner which was yummy.  James and I shared the pecan crusted chicken- delish!  Then the four of us (my mom, my sister Lisa, James and I) shared their banana split for dessert.  It was really good.  After wards we took the short walk over to the Sprint Center for the concert.  It was probably the most unique audience experience.  I don’t know anywhere else that the audience would go over and chat with each other during intermission and other free times.  It was fun to see all these people we know and many of which I haven’t seen in a while.  I even got to catch up a bit with a friend from college.

Then the performance…. oh where to I begin!!  It was so incredible.  They just sounded completely perfect.  I just sat there in awe most of the concert.  Every song was amazing.  Afterwards, I wasn’t even sure what my favorite was because they were all so good.  Then this morning I found this quote in a book of mine:

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great. ~Mark Twain

This is reminded me of the concert.  These people are the really great.  They are so talented and they volunteer unpaid to do this.  They definitely inspired me.  The concert and the words spoken made me know that each individual can be great.  We can all do great things.

Big Night Tonight!!

I'm very excited for tonight. Back in December, we bought tickets for
us and my parents to see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It was our
Christmas present to them. And finally tonight is the performance. Sad
note is that my dad probably won't be able to attend since so far they
haven't released him from Ku med yet today. But my mom decided to take
one of my sisters instead. My other sister Meg is going to watch Sariah.

The plan is to meet early and go have a nice dinner beforehand. Then
we are off to the show. I'm really pumped. I have lots of friends from
UT who have seen them perform for free a lot. But when you are from
here and don't have family in UT and honestly UT isn't high on my
vacation list, I have actually never seen them perform other than on
TV. So to me this is a big deal. Plus I love fancy dates. More than
just dinner or a movie. Actually getting all dressed up and having a
whole long night out with my hot husband. Whoohoooo for that!

Where did my baby go?

It occurred to me yesterday that Sariah's hair is getting super long.
Like long enough for a ponytail almost. So this morning we did "big
girl pigtails." like not just pulling the sides up but the back too. I
looked at her and thought she doesn't even look like a baby anymore.
She's really grown up. It made me a little sad but then I realized how
incredibly cute the pigtails looked and I wad okay.

She would NOT hold still to take pictures so this is the best I got.

Testing video

I'm not sure if this video will work but bare with me to test it.
Here's Sariah this morning at breakfast.

Feeling uninspired

So for a while I was holding off on doing any home decor projects, because I was trying not to spend money.  Now I’m back to wanting to do something, but am feeling totally uninspired as to a direction.  I keep trying to look at home blogs and online for something to help me, but so far not much.  My main rooms that I want to do are bathrooms.  The master, the guest, and the half bath.  I think the first one I want to focus on is the guest bathroom as it is used the most. It has a nice marble tile, but the colors of the tile are gray, maroon and purple sort of, and gold.  IMG_4641IMG_4643

I was thinking about pulling out the gold color and trying that (Trust me it is in there, just hard to see in these pictures).  Has anyone seen gold on the walls done really cool?   Or any other cool bathrooms?  Hmm maybe I just need to start it and the inspiration will come.  I guess I could just be nesting as I also have a desire to completely reorganize my master closet…. hehehe

Productive night

Tonight my friend Lacey and my sister Kris were the faithful few who
made it over for a girls' night. It was fun. We sat and chatted and
crafted together. Ate banana bread and chatted some more. I was so
excited to have a relaxed night with GREAT company.

And I got quite a bit done in the clips for Sariah department. Here
are some quick pictures of what I did.

At the pool

We got to go to the pool at the Y this week for a friend's party. It
was so fun watching James with Sariah. At first she held on as tight
as she could but by the end we couldn't get her out.

Painting in the bath

Somewhere we acquired some "bath" finger paint. It is basically dyed
soap that is water soluable and doesn't stain other things. I've tried
it before but Sariah wasn't into it with her fingers. Today for some
strange reason she was asking to color in her bath. So I grabbed a
paint brush this time. And she loved it!

Mimic

The funnest thing right now is to see what Sariah choses to mimic of
us. There have been several cute and funny things. A few are:

After breakfast the other morning she took her bowl and put it up to
her mouth and then acted like she was drinking the milk from the
bottom. (don't know where she saw that bad habit). :)

And she is already such a little mom. She will share her sippy with
her baby doll. But the best example is how she treats her bear. She
took bear and put her in the booster chair, hooked the straps, pulled
the tray over, got a bib and put that on, then asked for some
crackers. Sadly I couldn't get to my camera fast enough.

Lastly was the picture below. She grabbed an empty milk carton from
next to the recycle and a small glass. And proceeded to pour the milk
in the glass and the drink from the glass. (no worries she never drank
straight from the carton)

Come over Saturday

Hey ladies! I need a night to relax and be with friends. So this Saturday at 7pm come over! Bring something crafty or if you aren’t into crafts just come and you can help me with mine! Hehehe Come either way to hang out.

Those of you who are wanting to do lampworking with me, I will get out my torch for a little while and let you experiment. If you don’t know what that is- it is melting glass with a torch to make glass beads. Yes crafts with danger! Hehehe It is fun.

Just let me know if you think you can come.

I Conquered the Hill

So it has taken me a little while to put this on. But on the 6th, I conquered the hill! What hill you ask- Hospital Hill. I completed the 10K with 2 of my sisters, a niece, and a nephew. It was a really fun race. I haven't done one in quite sometime and having been so sick lately with morning sickness, I decided to walk it. So I walked all but the last mile and that I jogged.

My official results: 1 hour and 38 minutes and 56 seconds. Not bad for a pregnant woman at 4 months who has spent most of her weeks lately on the couch sick.

So you are probably thinking I'm nuts and perhaps I am. But there was a reason for doing this. We did the race in honor of my awesome dad who is battling pancreatic cancer. He amazes me every day with his strength and perseverance. I do not know how he does what he does. He is a fighter and will always be superman in my eyes.

We were able to raise $2,390 for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Although Pancreatic Cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer death in the US, it constitutes less than 2% of National Cancer Institutes federal research. If you still want to donate, there is time. What a night

So we live close to the airport. And the blessing and curse of that is that we often give rides and have people leaving their cars at our house. It is nice to be able to help out and we get to see people every time they travel.

This last time was for friends of ours that was going to Germany for 3 weeks. So last night they call to tell us they are here and about 10 minutes early. Then the fun began. We decided to both drive up so that we could just drop their car off and come home together. I get Sariah all packed up. Left my half cooked dinner and am ready to go... Then we can't find the keys to their car. After searching for about 45 minutes, we finally find them. James thought they were on a ring, but really they were in a baggie in his car. So after that part was over I get Sariah loaded up again. Then the car won't start. (our friends' car that is.) It is completely dead. So I pull our car around to charge it. And it took a little over 10 minutes to finally get enough juice in it to get it started. So about an hour after they arrived we head off to the airport.

Upon arrival, James out of habit pulls up and turns off the car. UH OH!! And of course it won't restart. It is dead again. So I make him pull the other car around since we are at the curb. We try to jump it and let the cables sit there for a while and still nothing. We are debating other options and did call the airport police/service people to come. Well after almost deciding to go home and get some tools, the airport people show up. And he pulls out these HUGE jumper cables and hooks those up and it starts right away. Turns out our cables were just not very good and really small so they weren't transferring enough power.

So over all the whole process took just over 2 hours. When normally it takes about 20 minutes. Ugh! It was a crazy night. And of course I didn't get dinner till really late. So I go super sick when we got home that night. Yuck!

Sunday shoes

Sariah is definately a girly girl. She loves shoes and trying them on.
Especially her mommy's:
